SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Yonhap) -- GM Korea Co.'s Trax compact sport utility vehicle topped the list of locally produced vehicles in terms of outbound shipments last year, industry data showed Monday.
In 2018, 239,800 Trax SUVs were exported, maintaining the model's position as the best-selling export car for a third consecutive year, according to sales data from the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA).
Hyundai Motor Co.'s Tucson compact SUV and Kona subcompact SUV ranked second and third in the export rankings last year, with shipments of 228,461 and 202,779 units, respectively, KAMA said.
The Trax is produced at GM Korea's plant in Bupyeong, just west of Seoul, and shipped to global markets such as the United States, Germany and Canada.
GM Korea is the South Korean unit of General Motors Co.
