SEOUL, March 14 (Yonhap) -- Singer Jung Joon-young appeared for police questioning Thursday over allegations he secretly filmed sex videos of women he slept with and shared the footage with fellow entertainers in a mobile chat room.
Jung, 30, best known for his part in the KBS variety show "2 Days & 1 Night" arrived at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency at around 10 a.m., two days after he hastily returned home from shooting a TV show in the United States amid the snowballing scandal.
"I am very sorry to the public for causing concern. I will faithfully undergo investigation," Jung, clad in black suit with his hair neatly tied back, told reporters.
The former contestant of the singing competition hit "Super Star K" is accused of recording videos, without their consent, of least 10 women he had sex with between 2015 and 2016.
He is alleged to have uploaded the footage to a group KakaoTalk chat and showed it to several other celebrities, including K-pop boy band BIGBANG's Seungri.
Seungri is also set to undergo a second questioning at the same police agency later in the day about the sex tapes and suspected sex solicitation in an unrelated case involving his personal business.
Jung and Seungri have expressed their intent to leave show business in a gesture of taking responsibility for their actions.
Jung has admitted to his wrongdoing and promised to put down everything and cooperate with the investigation in the fullest manner possible.
Seungri said he was retiring so as not to tarnish BIGBANG's name any further.
Their agencies announced Wednesday they were terminating their contracts with the singers.
The latest scandal has put the local entertainment industry under fire, drawing criticism from a public dismayed at the news and creating a swirl of other rumors and speculation about who the women in Jung's videos might be.
Top agencies, including SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment, have warned of stern legal action against people spreading groundless rumors about their actresses and female singers.
