Rally against S. Korea-U.S. defense cost-sharing deal

Men wear masks of South Korean President Moon Jae-in and U.S. President Joe Biden in front of the foreign ministry in Seoul on April 8, 2021, as members of the Solidarity for Peace and Reunification of Korea, a Seoul-based civic group of progressive activists, rally to urge the government not to sign a defense cost-sharing deal. The deal, called the Special Measures Agreement, calls for Seoul to pay 1.183 trillion won (US$1.05 billion) this year, up from 1.038 trillion won in 2019, for the upkeep of the 28,500-strong U.S. Forces Korea.
